Second Saturday Art Walk

We headed down to Second Saturday Art Walk earlier than usual on Saturday. Several venues were opening around 2 p.m. so I thought it would be a nice way to spend an afternoon. I was right. There were no lines at eating establishments, parking was easy-peasy, gallery owners were chatty and receptive and literally no one was standing between us and the art at any of the venues we visited.

This image from Lunch Box Gallery's iPhoneography show was shot by Trent Lawrence LeClair.
After a fine lunch at Lester's (the tuna melt has a spicy little kick), we hit The Lunch Box Gallery, Gab Studio, University of Miami Wynwood Project Space and a few other venues including Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, where people were gearing up for the opening reception for I Witness. The show features very large photographs from 25 photojournalists who explored conflict and emerged with captured moments that epitomize loss, desperation, sadness, devastation and love, sometimes simultaneously. I didn't photograph the I Witness show and I'm not sure my photos could do the images justice, but I highly recommend checking out the exhibition which runs through April 4.

I did, however, bring back plenty of images from the afternoon and you can check them out in the above slide show. After clicking the arrow in the middle, click in the lower right hand corner of the slide show to expand the pics and then click on "show info" at top right to see the captions that accompany each photo. Or simply view the Flickr set.
